As more companies and countries accelerate their push towards ambitious decarbonization targets, one reality has become increasingly clear: The world will need a lot more energy storage. Indeed, global additions of carbon-free generation sources like wind and solar are moving ahead rapidly around the globe and are forecast to gain momentum in the future.

But as variable renewable resources like wind and solar become more commonplace, energy storage able to keep power flowing when the sun isn’t shining and the wind isn’t blowing will become increasingly important. The reality, however, is that existing lithium-ion storage technology is not enough to meet the enormous need for energy storage that a decarbonized energy system will require. In this webinar, we will provide insights into a range of topics, including:

  • A discussion of the current and increasing need for energy storage.
  • An explanation of Honeywell’s energy storage solutions, including a flow battery system capable of storing and discharging electricity for up to 12 hours
  • Why Duke Energy is testing Honeywell’s flow battery system as part of its decarbonization efforts
