The COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated just how critical it is for health plans to offer virtual care. The ability to see a doctor remotely offers patients peace of mind, convenience, and a more consistent schedule of care, especially for those managing chronic conditions and behavioral health. Virtual care has also helped expand the capabilities of primary care and the role it plays in improving access to care, including specialists.

Yes: since March 2020, patient use of telemedicine rose 20-fold, with 79% reporting to be ‘very satisfied with the care received during their last telehealth visit,’ and lower costs and better patient outcomes seen across demographics.
