For most affordable housing applicants, the biggest obstacle to getting housed isn't their eligibility, but the verification process designed to confirm it.

New research from NYU's Furman Center studied 64,000 applications across 101 buildings and found a median of 118 days to complete income and asset verification, a 77% rejection rate, and half of all applicants abandoning the process before it even begins.
