Driving Retention & Belonging Through Peer Connections

ON DEMAND WEBINAR
Duration: 1 hour

Students in “the murky middle” rarely show up on administrators’ radar until it is too late. To ensure these overlooked students were getting connected to resources and fostering sense of belonging, Florida Atlantic University invested in a peer mentoring platform and launched the First-Year Connections program.

In addition to winning a Silver NASPA Excellence Award for being a transformative and data-driven program, students participating persisted at rates 3 percent higher than non-participants.  Watch the webinar on-demand to learn how FAU leaders collaborated to:

  • Scale peer mentorship to reach 23 percent of the incoming cohort
  • Assess leading indicators of student success – like sense of belonging and academic self-efficacy
  • Eliminate barriers to academic and student success
  • Work cohesively with a third-party vendor to make a significant change in the student experience
