Best Practices in K-12 Bullying Prevention:

The Role of a Positive School Culture

ON DEMAND WEBINAR
Duration: 1 hour

Bullying is a complex and multi-faceted phenomenon that is prevalent across aspects of society. It is particularly complicated and difficult to address in K-12 schools because of students’ developmental stages, the mandatory nature of schools, and the interconnectedness of students’ lives.

In this webinar, K-12 leaders will explore bullying prevention through a health promotion lens and learn key strategies for building a positive school culture where bullying does not take root. Participants will leave with proactive strategies and concrete tools to implement new ideas in their schools. By the end of this webinar, attendees will be able to:

  • Recognize the current social context of bullying in schools, including the role of outside events and social media.
  • List elements of a positive school culture, including respect, inclusion, trust, communication, empathy, and connection.
  • Describe trauma-informed responses to bullying that holistically address all roles (instigators, participants, targets, and bystanders).
  • Identify concrete strategies to create and maintain a school culture that does not support bullying.
