The U.S. energy transmission system is under extreme pressure: skyrocketing electricity demand from AI data centers, the increased pace of onshoring manufacturing, and growing electrification are all taxing the current system. These constraints are already driving significant congestion costs and contributing to rising electricity prices for customers.

But alleviating these pressures won’t be easy: interconnection queues continue to worsen, and renewable energy is often curtailed because of the constrained system.
